Ambulance service in the San Jacinto Mountains

The emergency medical services system saves lives. It is interdependent upon all ambulance providers and first response organizations to work within the system and designated responsible service areas. REMSA is collaboratively working with IFPD, CALFIRE/Riverside County Fire Department and AMR to update the ambulance mutual aid process.

When unincorporated residents in the San Jacinto Mountains need an ambulance, they typically receive service from American Medical Response (AMR). Residents in the township of Idyllwild receive ambulance transport service by the Idyllwild Fire Protection District (IFPD).

AMR is the current ambulance provider for nearly all unincorporated areas of Riverside County, including Pine Cove, Poppet Flats, Pinyon Pines, Aguanga and Anza. AMR’s service areas on the mountain plateau are maintained and regulated by contract with the Emergency Management Department/Riverside County Emergency Medical Services Agency since July 1, 2015.

Currently, residents from Pine Cove will only receive a responding IFPD ambulance when AMR is unavailable and the closest available ambulance is from IFPD. This is performed to ensure that residents receive a timely response to a 911 call for medical help.
