Ambulance Permitting
REMSA permits Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS), and Critical Care Transport (CCT) ambulances.
Riverside County Ordinance 756.1 (Regulations for Ambulance and Critical Care Transport Providers) establishes the regulations for ALS ambulance, BLS ambulance, CCT ambulance, and air ambulance (HEMS) providers.

Non-Emergency and Medical Transport Vans
REMSA does not permit non-emergency or medical transport vans. For more information about the requirements for medi-vans, please review Riverside County County Ordinance 698 (Taxicab Services and Non-Emergency Medical Van Services).

Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD)
The International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED) Medical Priority Dispatch System (MPDS) is utilized by EMD Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) in Riverside County to assist call takers in rapidly narrowing down a caller’s medical or trauma condition, dispatching emergency services, and providing standardized medical instructions to callers before help arrives.
Currently approved Riverside County EMD providers are City of Corona*, City of Murrieta, City of Riverside, Cathedral City and Riverside County Emergency Command Center.
Public safety answering point (PSAP) agencies requesting approval to become an EMD approved PSAP agencies in Riverside County must submit a Riverside County EMD Application (Initial) for approval.

Early defibrillation has been proven to save lives and improve outcomes from cardiac arrest. If you are interested in starting a PAD program within your organization, you will need:

- Your organization's name
- Names of all organizations' members or employees
- Proof of CPR training
- Possession of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) and all corresponding skills and equipment
- Agreement to comply with California regulations
- Integration with the local EMS system
