EMD Hosts CalEMSA (Emergency Medical Services Authority) Regional Exercise

March 5, 2026

County of Riverside Emergency Management Department is involved in an array of special programs intended to maintain readiness for disasters. In addition to ensuring we are ready to serve the residents and visitors to Riverside County, we play an important role in regional readiness. Our ability to support neighboring regions and to get help from other regions in times of need is critical. It’s all part of the Emergency Medical Services Authority’s (EMSA) Regional Disaster Medical Health Coordination (RDMHC) program.

On Thursday EMD joined others from the state’s Region 6 and those from Region 1 in a Patient Movement Plan Tabletop Exercise (TTX) that brought regional partners together to walk through earthquake-based scenarios involving large-scale patient movement. Participants examined how Region 6 agencies would coordinate with Region 1 mutual aid partners to support patient tracking, transport prioritization, and inter regional resource requests during a major event.

Teams from Local Emergency Medical Authority’s (LEMSA), Public Health/Medical Health Operational Area Coordinator (MHOAC) programs, dispatch centers, healthcare facilities, CalOES, and 911 providers collaborated to review the California EMSA Patient Movement Plan, discuss operational challenges, and strengthen communication and coordination through shared problem-solving.

A strong step forward in regional readiness.
