Join Us For National Preparedness Month

September is National Preparedness Month, and we invite the community to join us in recognizing this important annual observance. Each year reminds us of the value of planning ahead, and this year’s theme, “Preparedness Starts with You,” highlights how small, everyday actions can make a big difference in personal and household readiness. By participating, residents can gain the knowledge, tools, and confidence needed to be better prepared for emergencies and stay informed about available resources.
 

The first event of the month will take place at the Palm Desert Community Center, hosted in partnership with the Desert Recreation District and the City of Palm Desert. Together, we’re creating a day of hands-on preparedness activities, demonstrations, and fun family-friendly experiences designed to engage and empower the community. This family-friendly gathering is a great opportunity to explore local resources, connect with organizations, and learn practical steps toward emergency readiness in an energetic, welcoming environment.


Following this kickoff event, we invite the community to join us for our second celebration at Rancho Jurupa Regional Park, in collaboration with Riverside County Parks and the City of Jurupa Valley. Spend the afternoon speaking with local organizations, gathering valuable preparedness information, and discovering tools and resources that support safety and resilience. After the daytime activities, everyone is welcome to stay for a community movie night in the park, beginning at 7:00 pm.


We welcome residents to take part in these events and to help strengthen household and community resilience. Join us, get involved, and discover how Preparedness Starts with You.
