Riverside County EMD Service Vehicle

September 15, 2017

The County of Riverside Emergency Management Department (EMD) won a competitive merit award by the California State Association of Counties in the Government Finance, Administration and Technology category among urban counties.

The award recognizes EMD's industry-leading business model in unifying medical, health and traditional emergency management in a single, comprehensive, all-hazards department.

"This award reflects the dedication and commitment of our department employees who continuously strive to make Riverside County a leader in emergency management," said EMD Director Kim Saruwatari. "This award is a welcome return on the discipline and sacrifice it took from everyone involved to build our department."

CSAC’s annual statewide program honors innovation and best practices in county government. This year, CSAC received a record number of 288 entries. An independent panel of judges with expertise in county programs selected EMD as a merit award recipient. To see the entire list of recipients and read EMD's submission, visit the CSAC website
