Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is the provision of medical care outside of and prior to receiving treatment by a physician or nurse practitioner in a hospital, clinic, or office. EMS personnel provide care on-scene and provide follow-up transport to a hospital.
The Emergency Medical Services Agency provides medical direction and protocols for Riverside County’s emergency response team: EMTs, paramedics and nurses. The agency also oversees certification and licensure testing for EMS personnel and permits all emergency medical services agencies within the county.
