Representatives from Canyon Lake, Lake Elsinore, Menifee, Murrieta, Temecula, Wildomar, Perris, Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District, Rancho California Water District, CalFire, Riverside Sheriff's Office and County of Riverside Emergency Management Department gathered at Abbott Vascular for an exercise to test and improve plans in preparation for the predicted El Nino weather phenomenon.
The event was kicked off with a presentation by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). According to NOAA the current El Nino brings with it an 80 percent chance of a wetter than normal rain season.
City leaders and emergency management professionals discussed everything from mitigation efforts to response, sheltering, public information and recovery.
This is just one of many training exercises being held throughout the county to prepare for El Nino.
